Minerva University is a non-profit, U.S. accredited institution of higher education that prepares students to become innovators and global leaders in a wide variety of disciplines. In June 2022, Minerva was ranked #1 most innovative university in the world by World’s Universities with Real Impact (WURI), an organization whose partners include the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. We have reinvented higher education at every level, from how we equalize access to talented students from around the world, to how we leverage the possibilities of global immersion, to how we teach. We are well known for our undergraduate program where students live together in residence halls, traveling to 7 different cities around the world over their four years of study. We teach using Forum, a web-based platform that supports real-time, synchronous seminars (ranging from 15-19 students) with high levels of student-faculty interaction. All Minerva classes are seminars, not lecture courses, and use active learning to help students learn to think critically and creatively as well as to communicate and interact effectively with others. The majority of our students are undergraduates pursuing four-year degrees. Minerva offers a Master of Science in Decision Analysis, as well as other programming for professional learners, which we are actively looking to scale over the upcoming few years.

The Role

Minerva University is seeking a qualified business professional to develop and lead strategic initiatives such that (1) qualified North and Latin American high school students will know about, and be inspired by, Minerva University as their college of choice (2) working professionals consider Minerva University graduate offerings as a viable option to advance their career pursuits. Initiatives include:

  • Driving undergraduate and graduate program enrollments,
  • Strategic relationship building with school districts and school networks,
  • Establishing and nurturing organizational (and corporate) partnerships for identification and development of talented students,
  • Ensuring that Minerva University and our stories are amplified broadly in the region.

We are looking for a candidate passionate about the future of higher education and the innovations that Minerva University is invested in. The ideal candidate is a combination of thoughtful and proactive — comfortable initiating, navigating, and building strategic partnerships within large matrixed organizations (like school districts) and can work collaboratively to move internal stakeholders forward to build these relationships. As an externally facing representative of Minerva, it is essential that the Americas Director is personable and professional with a strong understanding of the Minerva University brand.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can confidently and proactively move things forward.

This role is remote but based in the US and requires travel within the US and internationally both within and outside of the region. The start date is ASAP.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Management

  • Develop and implement Americas strategy to meet annual enrollment targets for both the undergraduate and graduate programs at Minerva University
  • Grow Minerva University awareness in the region through joint initiatives within the Discovery team, thought leadership opportunities, partnerships, and more
  • Manage and support direct reports including a regional associate currently based in Latin America and work study students.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and regionally distributed team to develop regionally-relevant programs and initiatives to support above-cited responsibilities

Organizational Partnership Development

  • Identify and develop strategic relationships with key school districts, organizations, school networks, education and professional networking groups, etc. to grow awareness of Minerva University as the educational leader & innovator, and the best option for the right type of students
  • Build connections with Education stakeholders — counselors, regional leadership, student organizations, learning & development officers — to increase awareness and understanding of Minerva and its programs
  • Work closely with the graduate programs team to build partnerships that drive growth and opportunities for Minerva University’s graduate program offerings

Direct to Student Outreach

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategy to reach qualified applicants for Minerva programs
  • Broaden awareness and interest with applicants through various outreach channels including global talent identification programs, lead generation, event programming, and other campaigns.
  • Foster relationships with prospective students, families, counselors, school leadership, corporate decision-makers
  • Build and implement pipeline engagement plan to nurture program leads from prospect to enrollment and support applicants throughout the admissions process
  • Collaborate with the global outreach team to inspire admitted students to enroll in the program by articulating and evangelizing the benefits of a Minerva education

Requirements

  • Belief in and passion for fulfilling the Minerva mission: to nurture critical wisdom for the sake of the world
  • Bachelor’s degree from a distinguished university required
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with the ability to connect authentically and thoughtfully with various stakeholders ranging from applicants to upper level management within organizations.
  • Track record of successfully leading the growth and development of higher ed or related program enrollments.
  • Pro-active self-starting go-getter who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, likes to think out-of-the box to solve challenges and drive the business forward
  • Highly motivated to deliver impressive results with a strong sense of personal accountability and a bias towards action
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that will enable successful collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Excited to develop, nurture, and bring mutually beneficial organizational relationships to life
  • Comfortable with whitespace and not having all the answers — this is a region where we have a lot to figure out along the way!

This role will report to the Global Director, Outreach and will collaborate closely with the marketing and outreach teams.
